Pediatric programs sponsored by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) are required by the ABP to enter a unique identifier into the SIMPL system, known as the SIMPL LearnID, for their Trainees. This identifier is not required for Attendings or Program Administrators.


If you have added trainees to SIMPL and forgotten to enter their SIMPL LearnIDs from the APPD site, you can add it at anytime to existing trainee users in SIMPL by following these instructions:

  1. Proceed to the APPD site where you can download a template.
  2. Add your trainee's data to the file.
  3. Upload the file to the APPD site by clicking Choose File.
  4. Click the Generate Code button. A new file will download to your computer.
  5. Open the file and copy the trainee's SIMPL LearnID.
  6. Proceed to that trainee's SIMPL record in the Users table of the SIMPL administrative site.
  7. Click Edit User.
  8. Paste the trainee's SIMPL LearnID from the APPD site into the SIMPL LearnID field on the trainee's SIMPL Record.
  9. Click Save. The trainee now has their SIMPL LearnID added to their SIMPL account.
